ESSENTIAL STEPS TO
BUILDING BETTER PADEL COURTS

1. Site selection: Choose land with proper drainage, access, biodiversity, or visibility can hurt both playability and long-term business success. Flood-prone or uneven ground can become expensive to fix later.

2. Adequate planning permissions: Local councils can have strict rules around lighting, noise, and structures. Skipping or misunderstanding planning permission can delay or halt your project.

3. Understanding total costs: People often budget for the court itself but forget extras like groundwork, fencing, lighting, seating, parking, and ongoing maintenance.

4. Good drainage design: Padel courts need excellent drainage. If water pools under or around the surface, it can damage the structure and make courts unusable after rain.

5. Choosing the right surface: Not all artificial turf is equal. Low-quality surfaces wear quickly, affect ball bounce, and increase injury risk.

6. Correct glass installation: The glass walls are crucial. Improper installation can lead to vibration, cracks, or even safety hazards during play.

7. Selecting the right lighting: Bad lighting (wrong angles and insufficient lux levels) makes evening play frustrating and can deter customers, especially in the winter months.

8. Consider noise concerns: Padel can be surprisingly loud (ball impact + glass rebounds). Nearby residents may complain if sound mitigation isn’t considered early.

9. Choosing the right contractor: Using construction companies without padel-specific experience can lead to subtle but costly mistakes in dimensions, materials, or court performance.

10. Long-term maintenance planning: Courts require regular upkeep (cleaning turf, checking glass, checking all the bolts and screws, replacing sand infill). Ignoring this leads to faster deterioration and higher repair costs.
